SOMA

Day two of 100, and let’s keep the fear going with Frictional Games’ upcoming sci-fi horror game, SOMA. If you ever wished that you could spend a little more time in the creepy underwater environment of Bioshock, you’re in the luck, because that’s pretty much where the scares of this game will be taking place.

Deep under the sea, in a research facility known as PATHOS-2, everything is going to hell. The radio is silent, the staff are terrified, and “strange things are happening.”

Though the studio have managed to stay pretty tight-lipped about SOMA’s narrative, it is clear that conscience, AI, and what it means to be ‘alive’ will be the driving force of exploring this submersed environment. But you won’t be alone in your search. While discovering the mysteries of SOMA, a strange creature hunts you down. It appears to be some of cyber-organic creation, but without getting close, it’s hard to tell for sure.

I’m happy not knowing.

As Frictional Games is the studio behind the acclaimed Amnesia and Penumbra series, everyone is expecting SOMA to be a pretty big release for horror-lovers. Luckily, we won’t have to wait very long to find out, as the game releases on PC and PS4 on September 22nd.
